Like the time it takes for a leaf
To drop and hit the ground,
So is the time it takes each day
To turn a child's life around.

Take the time to notice them
And pat them on the head,
Or gently say I Love You
As they go off to bed.

Take the time to tell them
When they do something right
Or give loving punishment
When they do things out of spite.

It doesn't take a lot of time
To let them know you care,
But the saddest thing to a child
Is when you have no time to spare.

Most parents will always spend more time
Than it takes a leaf to fall,
But, if time is really budgeted,
It's better than none at all.

My childhood memories are pleasant.
I grew up safe and sound.
Because my parents, at least, took the time
It takes for a leaf to hit the ground.
